Old City Hall

1936, DG Brown, "Flood Scene, March 1936"

The building in the middle of this image, in between the County Ward on the left and the County Courthouse on the right, was the old City Hall in 1936. This is the same building where the cemetery records were kept.

Basements and cellars remained saturated with water days after the flood levels receded. With the records being kept in the City Hall basement, they faced the inevitable fate of becoming lost or destroyed.
